Machine learning is the science of getting computers to act without being explicitly programmed. Pattern recognition is the process of classifying input data into objects or classes based on key features. DiSPLaY group works on machine learning and pattern recognition techniques and applications.
Body and hand gesture recognition is a technique to understanding meaning of human activity and analysis their behavior that increasingly attracted attention in computer vision recently. In this topic our focus is on collecting gestures about Iranian Sign Language and old people behavior and then designing and developing corresponding algorithm and software.
Compressive sensing is a signal processing technique for efficiently acquiring and reconstructing a signal, by finding solutions to underdetermined linear systems. In this topic, our focus is on designing structured dictionaries for practical implementation and also dealing with several applications for compressing, dimension reducing, classifying, spectral sensing and imaging.
Digital images and videos are subject to a wide variety of distortions during acquisition, processing, compression, storage, transmission and reproduction and experience degradation of visual quality. Hence quality assessment of digital image and video is one of the vital problems in the field of image and video processing. In this topic, we design the mathematical measurement methods and generalize them to assess quality for color image and video.
